Barcamp is as good as the participants make it. Be prepared to lead or participate in a session, ask interesting questions, show off cool stuff you're working on and make new friends. Barcamp is not a typical conference where you are fed information in a one-way fashion.
You don't need to make fancy Powerpoint presentations, active discussion on white boards is more likely. But if you have tangible items, feel free to bring them.
Sessions can be about anything interesting, we'll draw up the schedule in the first hours of the event and then dive straight in.
Friday Pre-Party on February 22nd, 7pm
Saturday Event on February 23, 2013, 8am to 4pm
Varsity: Sold Out
Centennial: Sold Out
Who should attend BarCamp?
BarCamp Atlanta is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense day with discussions, demos and interaction from participants providing the content. Everyone is welcome, we'd love to hear from engineers, developers, entrepreneurs, designers, photographers, artists, marketers, architects, scientists, writers, or anyone else that has interesting experience to share.
We do ask that, aside from sponsors, you stay away from pitching products and selling services. The goal is to teach and share.
What should I bring?
You don't need to bring anything. We are going to try and have a mix of white boards and projectors. If you want to use a projector bring a laptop with your presentation on it.
Does everyone have to give a talk?
No, but we really encourage people to present, ask questions, meet new people, and participate in some way.
How long are the talks?
Talks are 30 minutes. Content can vary wildly from speaker to speaker. One may be a deck of slides while another is 5 minutes of whiteboarding following by 25 minutes of questions and discussion. Panel discussions are welcome as well. If a talk is great and running long there will be enough space for groups to huddle up and continue talking.
Reach out about sponsorship, questions, info, or anything else.
